Obituary

Mrs. Linda Carol Tate, 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on the early evening of Wednesday, October 14, 2026. She was born January 1, 1946, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Orville L. and Lottie B. (Asbury) Land.

Linda attended Approved University, where she studied cosmetology and earned her cosmetology license. She went on to operate a beauty salon from her home for several years, sharing her talents and passion for helping others feel and look their best.

Outside of her work, Linda enjoyed a variety of interests. She raised horses, loved riding them, and was the owner of Tater’s Patch Stables in Indianapolis. She also enjoyed gardening and preserving the vegetables she grew through canning. In her quieter moments, Linda could often be found watching television, particularly Everybody Loves Raymond and the Game Show Network.

Linda was a beautiful and selfless soul who loved deeply and wholeheartedly. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She will be remembered for her loving nature, generous spirit, and the devotion she showed to those she held close.

Linda is survived by her children, Stephanie Bussell and Michael Tate; her grandchildren, Nina and Randall Bacon, Destiny Dzelme, Zachary and Savannah Dzelme, and Aaron Tate; her great-grandchildren, Hayleigh, Eddy, Symphony, Jameson, Job, Lottie, and Solara. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald (Morene) Vorhees and Vicki Lynch.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Tate; her son, Richard Tate; her brothers, Gerry Vorhees and Buddy Land and her nephew, Daniel Lynch.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with Pastor Robbie Bacon officiating. Linda will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
