Obituary

Mrs. Lola Asher, Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on the late afternoon of Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was 76. Lola was born April 11, 1945 in Manchester, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Marcum and Hester (Goins) Johnson.

Lola attended school in Kentucky and then met and married the love of her life, Lewis Asher, Jr. and shortly thereafter, came to Indiana. She had been employed for 30 years as a cashier manager at Target which was previously known as Ayr-way Stores. She served there until her retirement around 1994.

Lola enjoyed shopping at Goodwill and searching for treasures which she referred to as junking. She also enjoyed taking walks in Brown County and listening to country music, especially that of George Strait and Alan Jackson. She was known to be a talker and enjoyed daily conversations with her sisters on the phone. She was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan and liked watching them on television. Lola dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered for the delicious meals she would prepare for them.

Lola is survived by her husband, Lewis Asher, Jr.; her children, Jamie (Lisa Gayle) Asher and Rhonda (Bob) Edlin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lelia (Floyd) Chadwell and Ann (Dennis) Lovins as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her five brothers.
