Mr. Louis Reed Thompson, Greenwood, passed away peacefully
at his residence on the late evening of Saturday, April 2, 2022. He was 80.
Louis was born October 22, 1941, in Birdsville,
Kentucky, a son of the late Clarence
E. and Mary B. (Braswell) Thompson.
Louis was a graduate of Sturgis High School
in Kentucky
and had been employed as a mechanical engineer with Allison Transmission
Division of General Motors Corporation where he retired in 1991 after over 30
years of service.
Louis enjoyed sports
especially University of Kentucky basketball, NASCAR and the Indianapolis 500. He liked to grill out and playing
Euchre with his family and friends. Louis loved his family dearly and cherished
the moments they could spend together. He was a family man in every sense of
the word.
Louis is survived by his
daughters, Deb (Gary)
Boggs and Kelley (J.R.) Newman; his grandchildren, Jacqueline (Nate) Parrott,
Jessica Newman, Cody Boggs, James Newman and Brooke Boggs; his
great-grandchildren, Riley Parrott and Zane Parrott; his siblings Clara
Fulkerson and Roy (Marilyn) Thompson; his sister-in-law, Lynn Thompson as well
as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents,
he is preceded in passing by his wife of 52 years, Edith Maxine (Wilson) Thompson; a
sister, Jean Massey and a brother Ed Thompson.
Funeral services will be
conducted at 12:00 pm, Monday, April 11, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Jack Massey,
Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn
Memory Gardens.
The family will receive
friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the funeral home.
