Louise Augusta Bartholomew, Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. She was 93 years old. Louise was born in Mason, WI, to her parents Henry and Herta Engelbrecht. Louise and her brother were raised to be proud of their German heritage.
Louise worked in Assembly for Western Electric for many years before she was able to retire. Louise found comfort in Christianity and was known to read her bible and pray to the Lord. As a young girl, Louise enjoyed fishing with her father and learning how to use various tools to become very handy around the house. Later in life, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and especially gardening. Louise loved to spend time with her family to celebrate holidays and just because she enjoyed seeing them. She was fiercely independent, outgoing, and headstrong. Louise will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those she leaves behind.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Marie (David) Baird; her daughter in law, Leslie Windhorst; her grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Byrd, Bryan Gabriel, Jacob (Sarah) Windhorst, and Alex Windhorst; her great grandchildren, Ethan, Carter, Corbin, Layla, Nova, AJ, and Madden; her cat, Mimi.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; her son, James William Windhorst; her brother, Jim Engelbrecht.
A visitation for Louise will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm.
