Obituary

Louise Riebe Tormey, 89 of New Whiteland passed away November 26, 2018. Louise was born in Harrisburg, PA on July 18, 1929 to George W. Riebe and Minnie (Drew) Riebe. Louise graduated from Charleston HS, Wellsboro, PA in 1947. Louise later graduated from the Temple University Pharmacy program, becoming one of the very few women at that time to finish such a program. Louise later moved to Indiana, where she raised her children and worked as a Retail Pharmacist and later becoming one of the first females to hold a Pharmacist Manager position. Louise loved her Southport Christian Church family located at 201 E. Epler Avenue. She was in leadership at First Tuesday Fellowship, FTF, where some of her pitch-in dishes were crowd favorites. The church also had a food pantry ministry where she and a friend volunteered regularly. Over the years Louise attended Christian education classes and served on various committees. She was always willing to help by picking up a friend to include them in her activity. Louise dedicated her life to her family. She took off a week for the births of her grandchildren. She always personalized everyone's birthdays, your favorite cake, food, etc. Louise enjoyed motor sports, football and rugby. She loved attending races with her son. Louise liked to knit, needle point, gardening, making homemade ribbons for Christmas. Louise had a meticulous attention to detail and no one will forget the family cookbook and mom's "momaroni". She will be greatly missed.

Louise is survived by her children, Cindy L. (Rich) Hayes, Tim J. Tormey and Tobin H. Tormey; brother, George Riebe; grandchildren, Justin Strange, Holly Munoz, Kaylan Grossbier, Jill Thomas, Karen Young and Laura Hayes; 9 great grandchildren. Louise is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cheryl B. Tormey.
