Lowell Eugene Baker, 81 of Indianapolis, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on Sunday, December 31, 1939, to the late Paul E. Baker and Mary J. (Miller) Baker.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Indianapolis.

Lowell is preceded in death both parents; siblings Patricia, Paul, Robert, Vesta, Edward, Marilyn and grandchildren Jamie, Dominic and Christian James.

He was a loving brother to Martha Sparks, Marion ( Vedia ) Baker, Doyle (Rebecca) Baker, Jacqueline (late Gerald) Mattingly and Constance (Snowden) Hughes.

His legacy will continue through his family which he continuously spoke about and was most proud of, Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Bridget ; his six beautiful daughters Rita Baker, Karen (Terrance) Quinlan, Alice Alexander, Briana (Steven) West, Tina Showecker , Mary Jane Baker; two wonderful sons Lowell "Gene" Baker, Jr. and John Baker along with his other treasures of 29 grandchildren and 54 Great grandchildren.

Lowell Worked Nearly his entire life in the print crafts industy , retiring as as a mailer from the Indianapolis Star in 2001 after 19 years of service. He also wore many other hats seving others and his family as a coach, mentor, leader, teammate, competitor and friend. His stewardship as a coach of young men began in the 1960's and will truly never end. After his retirement in 2001 you would find him at his grandchildren's events, fishing at his brother or sister's ponds, spending time with his family and friends at the campground, at breakfast with his children or retirees, at 10:30 Sunday Mass, or his favorite spot relaxing with his pets on the couch watching sports.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7 from 4 to 8 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memory Gardens. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 8 at 11 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church there will be a visitation an hour before mass.

There will also be a Celebration of Life at Homeplace Campground located in Quincy, Indiana on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 12:00 PM
