Lydia Bernice Hickman, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away March 16, 2016 at Community Hospital South. Born July 28, 1922 in Harrisburg, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora Lee (Duncan) Dixon.
She worked as a homemaker, and retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in Indianapolis after twenty five years of service. She married Roy C. Hughes who preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Wayne Hickman who also preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of One Christian Church, formerly Southport Baptist, a quilter, story teller, and was featured on a T.V. commercial for Crestwood Village. She believed, and told her family, "that Ice Cream could fix anything". She is survived by a son, Ronald (Nancy) Hughes; daughters, Glenda Hagans, Jane King, and Ruthann (Jim) Baldwin; twelve Grandchildren, twenty one Great - Great Grandchildren, and five Great - Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Friends may call form 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
