Obituary

Lyle D. Johnson, 86, of Indianapolis, IN was born on Nov. 24, 1933, and embraced by his Heavenly Father on May 1, 2020.  He was born in Union County Illinois, to the late Holly and Hattie Johnson. He was a U.S. Army paratrooper, a Bible scholar, and in his younger years, even a bodybuilder. For most of his life, he was a tradesman, a tool and die maker for Western Electric. He served in his local church for years as a deacon, taught the adult Sunday School class, and regularly lead Bible Studies. He was an ardent representative of Jesus always ready to witness to the changing power of the Christ and as such, won many souls to the Lord, especially those who worked with him. He was as sharp and straight an arrow in his convictions and his purpose in life was to serve God. He was a man who fiercely loved his God, his family and his dachshunds (Gus, Gus, Gus, and Gus) were his whole world. Lyle is survived by his cherished wife of 69 years, Myrna Johnson; his daughters Deborah (Larry) Hazelbaker, Cheryl (Rick) Hustedt, and son Randy Johnson; grandchildren Jeffery Meyers, Melissa Rixon, Shannon Powell, Amanda Bean, Matthew Johnson, Suzie Miles and Christine Mendenhall; and 11 great-grandchildren.

His immediate family will remember him in a private service on Wednesday, May 6th with a military burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood, IN.
