Manuel Alvarez, Jr., 77 of Greenwood passed away on June 30, 2018. Manuel was born in Gary, Indiana on December 1, 1940 to Manuel and Josephine Alvarez. Manuel graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1959; he was the Football City Scoring Champ. Manuel proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from US Steel and later retired from Crown Point School as a Bus Driver. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football. Manuel will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Manuel is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Christine Alvarez; son, Michael (Samantha) Alvarez; daughters, Sheila (Mark) Brunette and Melanie (Mike) Stark; brother, Ceasar Alvarez; sisters, Gloria Alvarez-Kuchaes and Marie Lofgren; grandchildren, Andy Alvarez, William Alvarez, Madeline Alvarez, Mark Manuel Alvarez, Brook Lowry, Gabrielle Lowry, Shyanne Prohl, Lauren Prohl and Emilia Stark.
