Maria Ochoa Quintana, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, August 1,2020.She was born on October 5,1925 in Mercedes, (one of the oldest towns in the Rio Grande Valley) Texas, to the late Mauro Ochoa and Matilda Lopez Ochoa.

Maria died after battling several years of dementia and multiple strokes. She passed peacefully in her home with family, just as she would have wanted. Maria met her husband, Jesus Quintana Sr. while working at the local movie theatre in Mercedes. Jesus would pursue her away from another and they married on May 16,1948. She moved to Indianapolis in 1951. She came by train with son's Jesus, Jr. and Juan to reunite with her husband. They would initially live in downtown Indy and were relocated due to the interstate expansion. The family would remain on the near east side until Jesus death. Maria would ultimately return to Lockerbie and live out the rest of her years a block away from their first home.

Maria was a very loving wife, mother,  grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and matriarch of the family. She was faith-filled, gentle yet a strong woman who positively blessed the lives of everyone she touched. Her children and grandchildren will always retain fond memories of her making them tortillas and other Mexican dishes as they were growing up. She always had a glint in her eyes and her smile was contagious. Maria and her family were former members of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Philip Neri, and Christ the King Catholic Church.

Maria is survived by her 96-year-old sister Manuela Ochoa Galvan and half-sister, Delfina Reyes who both still live in the Valley, her devoted daughter Maria, sons, Jesus Jr, Juan, Rolando, Carlos, Daniel, and step children; Libby Ann, Nic, Tina, Angela and Luis. She leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesus Quintana Sr. and son's Julio, Mario and Marcelino.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. SR-135, Greenwood, In 46143 on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 4pm to 8pm. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for August 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 317 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis. After Mass a private graveside service for family will held at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Father Michael O'Mara to preside. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Parish and envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.

**Due to COVID-19 all in attendance to the Celebration of Life and Mass will be required to wear a mask. We ask that anyone who has traveled by plane, been around anyone infected and has not self-quarantined for 14 days, has a fever or symptoms to please not attend.
