Mrs. Maria Teresa Sims, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025. She was 82 years old.

Maria was born on October 8, 1942, in Albany, New York, a daughter of the late Francis and Vera (Maccori) Augustino. She grew up in a close-knit family and carried that deep sense of care and connection into her adult life.

A dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Maria spent her career working in the healthcare field as a Qualified Medical Aide. She was known for her gentle nature, warm spirit, and the comfort she provided to those in her care.

Maria was a talented and creative soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An exceptional cook, she loved preparing meals for her loved ones, and her dishes were always made with heart. She was also highly skilled in various crafts, especially sewing, knitting, and crocheting—talents she often shared with others through gifts and handmade treasures.

She delighted in the beauty of nature, spending time outdoors tending to her flowers, listening to her wind chimes, and watching the birds that visited her yard. These quiet moments brought her great peace. Above all, Maria cherished time spent with her family, always placing their needs and happiness above her own. She was a woman of deep faith and a member of the Catholic Church.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Chris (Ron) Coulson, Frank (Pasha) Sims, Dan Sims, and BJ (Kelly) Klassen; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce (Jerry) Griffin; her sister-in-law, Glenda Augustino; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Charles Sims; her brother, Rocky Augustino; and her sister, Jo Martin.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Maria's life will be held at a later date.
