Marilyn J. Hale, 80, of Indianapolis passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was born to the late William Townsend and Marjorie Sharp on March 2, 1942. She grew up in Princeton, Indiana.

Marilyn met her beloved husband, Walter, at a family church event where she played the accordion and he sang a song along with her. Their love blossomed from that day and they went on to build a wonderful life together.

Marilyn lived her life as a joyful servant of her Savior. As a young girl she could be found sitting in a front pew of the church where her daddy was the pastor. After some time, Walter and Marilyn brought their family to join First Baptist Church of Beech Grove where she served in numerous areas including Women's Ministries and as president of the Missions Ministry program. She enjoyed her travels on missions trips to Papua New Guinea and Mexico. Her greatest joy was always found in Children's Ministry. She developed biblical curriculum and served as a strong leader to teach children about the love of Jesus. In her later years, she became a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She served as the church secretary and continued her spiritual leadership in their Children's Ministry program.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Hale; two children, Deborah (Matthew) Case and Gregory (Tessa) Hale; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Joyce Beloat and Donald Townsend. She is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Carol Townsend.

Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at Noon. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens immediately following the service.
