Marjorie Platt's Obituary
Marjorie Platt was born on June 29, 1927, in Akron, Ohio. Her father Joseph was from Scotland, and she had the same joyful spirit as he did. Her mother Martha was of Menonite background from Pennsylvania, and Marge had the same servant's heart as she did. She loved to sing and enjoyed her time in Triple Trio while she was at Rhodes High School in Cleveland. She also volunteered at the city mission in Cleveland. After graduating, she worked as a stenographer at Stadler Products. During World War II, she found a pen pal in her friend's brother, Kenneth Platt. They grew to be more than friends and were married on January 24, 1948, in the middle of a blizzard. Marge became a full-time mother when they adopted their daughter Cheryl. Three years later, they also adopted a son, Rusty. Once her children went to school, she started her job as a school bus driver and drove for handicapped children for many years. She also taught Sunday School for over 50 years and had a profound impact on all the children she encountered. Marge ran a clothing ministry at her church where people from the community could come and get any supplies they needed but couldn't afford on their own. She lived a life dedicated to others and was continually looking for ways to serve those around her.
On August 31, 2020, Marge died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93. She is survived by her husband Ken; daughter Cheryl; four grandchildren, their spouses, and five great-grandchildren.
Marge loved her Lord Jesus since the age of 5 and spent her life living for Him and sharing her faith with those around her. She is fondly remembered for her generosity, kindness, positivity, and love. Many cherished her wisdom and admired her compassion. She always had a smile on her face and demonstrated patience in an extraordinary way. She was a definite "prayer warrior" and often seemed to have a direct line to God. She knew what to say in the worst of times and will be remembered by her wise, calm, and gentle spirit. Even though her life seemed to have more than its fair share of struggles, she always spread love and compassion to those around her, no matter her own circumstances at the time. The world was better with her in it, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 6th 12:00 - 4:00 with the service beginning at 4:00. Both will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1977 S. SR-135, Greenwood, IN, 46143.
