Obituary

Mark Edward Baker Sr, Indianapolis, passed away on March 10, 2025. He was 72 years old. Mark was born at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, IN to his parents Charles and Frances Baker. Mark married his wife, Rosalyn, on August 20, 1971, and together they shared 53 years of marriage.  Mark worked as a firefighter for Warren Township Fire Department and retired in May of 2006 after 26 years of service. Mark made several lifelong friendships during his tenure and always cherished the time he was able to serve his community. Mark was a member of Pleasant Lodge 134 as a Free Mason with the Master Mason degree. He enjoyed fishing near Cataract Lake and farming alongside his family friends. Mark also enjoyed spending his free time restoring, fixing, and tinkering with anything that had a motor; especially tractors. Family dinners always brought him great joy and provided him an opportunity to tell his no-filter jokes. Mark will be remembered for his no-nonsense attitude and his ability to be soft with those closest to him. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Mark is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Baker; his children, Mark (Angie) Baker Jr., Amy (Nate) Schneider; his bonus-son, Michael (Holly) Bruner; his grandchildren, Keelie (Brian) Wagner, Braeden (Faith Pence) Baker, Kenzie Baker, Tyler McClellan, Danielle Helmick and David Helmick; his nephews, Chris (Tiffany) Smith, Stephen (Alma) Smith, Scott (Jasmyn) Hanes; his several cousins.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Karen Hanes.
A visitation for Mark will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 1:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
