Mary E. Jett, age 89, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Community South Hospital with her family at her side. She was born March 10, 1923 in Bloomfield, IN to Simon and Lola (Cooper) Burch. She graduated from Worthington High School with the Class of 1941. Mary was a secretary for Greenwood Christian Church for 10 years and worked for and retired from American States Insurance. She was a member and Past Matron of Greenwood Order of the Eastern Star # 390.
She married Carl Jett on October 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, D. Keith Jett; brothers, Dexter, Lloyd, Elmer, Irvin and Edward Burch; sisters, Mamie Glaze, Helen Holdcroft, and Opal Foster. She is survived by her daughter, Chyrie (John) Thompson, of Greenwood; grandchildren, Jessi (Michael) Heisinger, of Greenwood, Lissi (Michael) Lobb, of Greenwood, Lola (Matt) Block, of Kansas City, and Kara Jett, of San Diego; seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, April 20 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. An O.E.S. service will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to O.E.S. # 390.
