Mary Frances McElroy, Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was 82 years old. Mary was born in Indianapolis, IN to her parents Justin and Imogene Ruth. Mary married her husband, James, on January 19, 1980, and they shared 30 years of marriage together until James passed away in 2010.
Mary was a lifelong homemaker and took pride in doting on her family. Mary enjoyed shopping, crafting and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She grew up playing the accordion and the piano. Mary will be remembered for her talkative demeanor, wonderful sense of humor, and infectious warmth she shared freely. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Mary is survived by her children, Charles (Gayle) Gaither, George (Karin) Gaither, Stella Moore, Eric Gaither, and Duane (Shannon) Gaither; her grandchildren, Matthew (Jaclyn) Gaither, Audrey Gaither, Holly Gaither, Dakota Gaither, Noah (Sarah Jane) Gaither, Savannah Gaither, Mallory Moore, Chance Gaither, Kylie (Braxton) Fields, and Jonathan Gaither; her great grandchildren,  Lewis, Shepard, Caspian, and Callan; her brother, Charlie (Ursula) Ruth; sister in law, Pat Ruth; her several nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Paul Ruth and Justin "Buddy" Ruth.
Mary's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on June 6th at 1:30 pm.
