Mary Elizabeth Franklin, age 89, of Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday morning with her loving family at her side. Mary was born September 6, 1925 in Harlan, KY to George and Edith (Moyers) Rivers. She was a graduate of Harlan High School with the Class of 1943. She had worked as an Executive Secretary at Crucible Steel, Mobil Oil and Cram Map and Globe. Mary enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, doing crossword puzzles and spending time her family. She especially loved her dog, Molly.
Mary''s greatest love was for her husband, Jimmie, whom she married on April 26, 1947 in Louisville, KY. They spent many happy, wonderful years raising their daughter, Jane (Jim) Grizzel of Greenwood and then later enjoying grandchildren, Christine (James) Guzmann of Indianapolis and Jim (Kim) Grizzel of Marengo; great grandchildren TJ, Dustin, and Chelsea Rose, Kaylee, Kloee, and Klayton Grizzel; great great grandson, Colton Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Rivers and great grandson, Joshua Rose. She will be missed so much by all who know and love her.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with visitation from 12:00 Noon until service time. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation.
