Mary J. Wortman passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025.  She was 70 years old.  Mary was born in Indianapolis, to David H. Olmstead Sr. and Amelia C. (Farage) Olmstead. She graduated from Southport High School, Indianapolis, IN, Class of 1972. She went on to receive an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Mary worked for Plumbers Supply in Beech Grove, IN for many years but ultimately retired from United Airlines as an accounting clerk and Perry Township Fire Department (IFD now) as a Quartermaster. In retirement, Mary enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, swimming in her pool and was a strong advocate for pets and their care. Mary was an avid art lover and was a talented self taught artist.

Mary is survived by her children, Jason Nelson (Steffeney Junkens) and Amelia Little and her granddaughter, Brooklyn Nelson. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Therese) Olmstead Jr., Michael (Barbara) Olmstead, Pat (Patty) Olmstead and her sister, Dianne (Richard) Petry as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and life-long friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, David H Olmstead Sr and Amelia C Olmstead and many aunts, uncles and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 10, 2025 at St Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46227  Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at the church.
