Matthew "John" Chatterton, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away January 6, 2015. The son of Matthew and Hilda (Stanford) Chatterton, John was born January 27, 1930 in Birmingham, England and immigrated to the U.S. in 1956.

He was a pattern maker for the auto industry until his retirement from General Motors. He enjoyed woodworking and had traveled around the world.

John is survived by his wife, Frieda F. (Hansome) Chatterton of Indianapolis; children, Karen Gildea of Indianapolis, Paul (Collette) Chatterton of Martinsville, Laura (Howard) Solomon of Indianapolis and Kevin (Jackie) Chatterton of Noblesville; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his stepson, Bill Spurlock and granddaughter, Jennifer Chatterton.

Funeral services 11:00 a.m. January 10, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. January 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
