Matthew Thomas "Matt" Bair, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and support for those in need. Born on May 30, 1978, in Warsaw, Indiana, Matt was the beloved son of Thomas and Cynthia "Sue" Bair.

Matt's vibrant personality and quick wit endeared him to family, friends, and radio listeners everywhere. He was a 1996 graduate of Rochester High School where he was a talented trumpet player and participated in numerous theatrical productions as a member of the school’s drama club. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from IUPUI.

He began his career in radio broadcasting at WROI-FM in Rochester, Indiana followed by 16 years at 93.1 WIBC in Indianapolis. He flourished as a beloved traffic reporter for WIBC where he spent the last 8 years brightening the mornings and afternoons of countless listeners. Matt was also a cohost of the "Supporting Sobriety Podcast," which was dedicated to providing hope for friends and family members of those struggling with addiction. His work meant so much to him and his WIBC co-workers were truly part of his family.

Committed to his community, Matt was an advocate and supporter of The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center as well as Horizon House. He was passionately working toward building a library at Horizon House, a testament to his belief in the power of compassion and generosity.

Matt leaves behind his parents, brother Chris (Kerri) Bair of Winter Garden, FL, sisters Jill (David) Sumner of Naples, FL, and Tessa (Seth) Miller of Greenwood. He was a devoted uncle to Alexis, Evan, Austin, Gavin, Michael, Emily, Magnolia, Alana, and Izzy. Matt is also survived by his Uncle Steve Bair and Aunt Julia Owens.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 30, 2026 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at The Indiana Historical Society, 450 W Ohio St. Indianapolis, IN 46202.
