Obituary

Mrs. Mavis Sue Beasley, of Greenwood, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 84. Mavis was born on September 7, 1941, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Rubin Darrel and Bonnie Norene (Wilson) Jennings. She was raised with strong values of faith, family, and hard work—principles that would guide her throughout her life.

Following her graduation from high school, Mavis dedicated several years to the healthcare field, where she served faithfully as a dietary supervisor in area nursing care facilities. She took pride in her work and in caring for others, a reflection of her compassionate and giving spirit.

A devoted Christian, Mavis was a faithful member of Point of Hope Church in Indianapolis. She found great joy in reading and studying her Bible and was deeply rooted in her faith. Much of her life revolved around her church and spiritual walk, which brought her comfort and purpose.

Mavis had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping, dining out with friends and family, and spending quiet time sewing, knitting, and working on crafts. She also took delight in staying active on her iPad, always finding ways to keep herself busy. Known for her strong work ethic, punctuality, and sense of responsibility, Mavis was a woman of determination. She could be strong-willed and straight forward, yet she was also deeply sweet, caring, and loving to those who knew her best.

Above all, Mavis cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her time spent with her loved ones brought her the greatest joy. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved Pom-a-Poo, Maisie.

Mavis is survived by her loving husband, Glen Beasley; her children, Charles Darrell (Lisa) Mitchell, Jennifer (Monty) Fuller, Cathy (Tony) Davies, and Lora (Richard) Freeman; her grandchildren, Jeremy Fuller, Kassi White, Cody Mitchell, Adam Patterson, Kaylla Robinson, Emily Guerrero and Ally Freeman; several great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Norma Ballard and Evelyn Johnston, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Rosie Mae Fuller, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Monty Fuller officiating. Mavis will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens immediately following the service.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered in Mavis’s honor to the Johnson County Animal Shelter or to any no-kill animal rescue organization.
