Melissa "Missy" Pennington, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She was 48 years old. Missy was born in Winchester, IN to her parents Eddie Eugene and Rita Gail Hampshire. She graduated from Winchester Community High School and attended Indiana University, where she received a bachelor's degree in nursing. Missy married her husband, Michael, on May 12, 2007, and they shared 18 loving years of marriage together.

Missy worked as an RN in multiple capacities around the Indianapolis area for the 25 years; She most cherished her twelve years of nursing at Riley Children's Hospital. She was a passionate caregiver and took pride in her work. Missy and Michael welcomed their daughter, Amelia, into the world in 2008. Immediately, Missy's world shifted to surround Amelia, and she loved raising and supporting her beloved daughter with anything she did. Missy enjoyed cooking for her friends and family; some of her favorite dishes to prepare were grilled cheese, spaghetti, pineapple chicken, and sausage with green beans and potatoes. Missy was an Indiana sports fan and loved watching SpongeBob. Missy never met a stranger and poured out compassion in every interaction. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. She always had a fascination with wildlife, considered red cardinals to be a sign of good luck, and enjoyed listening to Christian music on K-love radio. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Missy will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.

Missy is survived by her husband, Michael Pennington; her daughter, Amelia Gail Pennington; her parents, Eddie and Rita Hampshire; her brother, Monte (Kristi) Hampshire; her niece and nephew, Katy Hampshire and Mark "MarkE" Hampshire; her grandmother, Katherine Eisenhour; her cats, Tobi and Tilli.
Missy is preceded in death by her father-in-law, James Pennington; her best friend, Laura Yanich; her grandparents, Eldon Eisenhour and Royce (Phyllis) Hampshire.

A visitation for Missy will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at  10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, IN at 2:00pm. The family will meet at Saratoga United Methodist Church (104 Main St, Saratoga, IN, 47382) and process to the cemetery together.
