Mrs. Melva Augusta Erney, 93, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2025 with Judy and Mike by her side. Melva was born August 26, 1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the beloved daughter of the late Ivan and Della (Barley) Williams.

Melva attended local schools in Indianapolis before embarking on a long and dedicated career at Waffle House, where she worked as a waitress for 28 years before retiring. She took pride in her work and was cherished by coworkers and customers alike. A woman of deep faith, Melva attended Greenwood Christian Church and carried her kind and compassionate heart into every aspect of her life.

In addition to her professional and spiritual life, Melva enjoyed many hobbies. She loved sewing, collecting baby dolls, and exploring flea markets and yard sales in search of treasures. Known for her exceptional cooking, she brought her family together with her meals and cherished the time spent with loved ones. Her dogs—Shelby, Ginger, and Tammy—held a special place in her heart. Melva had a servant's heart, often caring for family members with selfless love and unwavering dedication.

Melva is survived by her children, Judy (Roman) Leal, David (Isabel) Little, Mike (Renea) Little and Rick Little. She leaves behind a legacy through her 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Bernard Erney; her infant son, Charles Little as well as seven siblings.

A celebration of Melva's life will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, officiated by Chaplain Richard Brendan. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
