Michael Steven Harman was born December 12, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN to Thelma and Earl Harman. He grew up in Indianapolis and attended Emmerich Manual High School and IUPUI. Michael joined the Marines and served his country honorably. During the Vietnam War, he bravely transported fellow Marines and supplies to the front lines. He retired with honors from the Marine Corps as a Corporal. Upon retiring from the service, he was a supervisor in the Department of Transportation. He then worked as the manager of the Indianapolis branch of Tec-Hackett, before owning a landscaping business. Michael was an enormous fan of the Colts, IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and visiting casinos. He was always very close to his family and friends, and was known well as a strong, selfless and caring man. His wit and charm was always greatly admired by his wife, daughter, grandchildren, and friends. Michael passed away on June 5, 2014 in Indianapolis.

Mr. Harman is survived by his wife Cecelia, his daughter Gina Jinks, his grandchildren Ryan McGinley, Kelly Iaria, and Tim Hawkins , his great-granddaughter Stella Iaria, all of Indianapolis; his brothers Richard and Bill, of Florida, his sisters Phyllis Shannon and Linda Smith of Indianapolis, and cousins, nieces, and nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Sweezy, of Indianapolis. His brother -in - law, Jack Smith will preside over the funeral ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center, P.O. Box 6460, Indianapolis, IN.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday June 9, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South S.R. 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
