Michael Stephen Raia, Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 7, 2022. He was 72. Mike was born July 7, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late John James and Leona Cecilia (Oniones) Raia, Sr.
Mike attended Scecina High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1968. Following graduation, he earned an Associates degree from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana in 1970. He was also a proud veteran and honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1969 until 1975. Mike was a Sales Manager with Valvoline and retired in 2011 after over 25 years of service. He also was the basketball coach at Little Flower Catholic School.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sheila M. (Gambill) Raia, whom he married July 12, 1969; his daughter, Christina Raia; his grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph and Jesse; three sisters, Lucy Patton, Frankie (David) MacKenzie and Nancy (Jim) Monkman as well as several other beloved family members.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in passing by his brother, John Raia, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Entombment will follow at the Benjamin Franklin Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors conferred by a contingent from the United States Army.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
