Mildred "Millie" Stemle, age 81, of Franklin, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Franklin United Methodist Home. She was born January 16, 1932 in Jasper, IN to Bernard and Rose (Nolan) Eckstein. She graduated from the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, IN with the Class of 1950. She was the Owner of Millie''s Desperation Depot in Amity, IN for many years. She was a past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Greenwood. She loved spending time with her family and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Millie is survived by her son, Alex(Laura) Stemle of Greenwood; daughters, Kristina (Rian) White of Franklin, and Bridget (John) Robertson of Trafalgar; brothers, Thomas (JoAnn) Eckstein of Haysville and William (Bobbie) Eckstein of Jasper; sisters, Jean Isom of Greenwood, and Irma (Gene) Gudorf of Jasper; grandchildren Leslie Johnson, Carrie Howard, Rianna and Dylan White; great grandchildren Sheridan and Isaac Smith, Jacob Schumacher, Jessica and Justin Johnson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Constance "Conee" David, who passed in 2008; sisters, Sue Egbert, Ruth Keller, and Joan Wolfe; brothers Donald and George Eckstein.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Francis and Clare Catholic Church, Greenwood with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
