Mrs. Minnie Pearl Fleming, Greenwood, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on the early evening of Monday, November 29, 2021. She was 80. Minnie Pearl was born September 27, 1941 in Nankipoo, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Evelyn Maureen (Ward) Wright.

Minnie Pearl attended Halls High School in Halls, Tennessee and was a member of the graduating Class of 1959. She had been employed as a cashier for five years at MCL Cafeteria. She was an avid Indiana Pacers fan and especially of Reggie Miller. She enjoyed listening to Country music and was a fan of Elvis Presley and Taylor Swift. Minnie Pearl looked forward to spending Saturday's shopping with her daughter and eating out with the family at Olive Garden or Texas Roadhouse.

Minnie Pearl spent much of her leisure time quilting, knitting and sewing creating such treasures as Christmas pillows, stuffed animals and children's clothing. She was also a tremendous cook and would prepare wonderful holiday dinners for the family, especially at Easter, which was her favorite holiday.

Minnie Pearl was a 'Southern Belle' in every sense of the word. She had a quirky and ornery personality which endeared her to everyone she met. She was a loving and giving lady and provided much love and care to her family over the course of her lifetime. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long-time member of New Hope Church of Greenwood.

Minnie Pearl is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, George Fleming; her only child, Amanda (Dave) Davis; her granddaughter, Amber (Matthew) Staller and her great-granddaughter Skylar Staller as well as four nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her siblings, Samuel Wright, Jr. and Francis Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Brother Chris Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
