Miriam E. "Mimi" Sherman, age 68 of Indianapolis died at 10:35am Sunday, July 5th at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by her loving family. Born January 18, 1941 in Mooresville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Rev. Charles William and Mildred (Anderson) Taylor. On July 6, 1981 at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, she married Charles Henry Sherman.
Mimi attended Brownstown schools for 4 years before graduating from Broad Ripple High School. She was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church on Kessler. For the past 12 years, Mimi was a devoted worker and was the director of the fellowship program at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology in Indianapolis. She was loved, respected and honored by the fellows in the program and most thought of her as "Mom". Having grown up in a Methodist parsonage, Mimi was taught at an early age what it was to be a caregiver to others. Mimi devoted her entire life helping others and always went the extra mile in a selfless manner. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandma and she will be missed very much by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Charles, her father Charles and her step-mother Wilma; two sons, Mark Owen and Erik (Diane) Owen; two daughters, Heather (Matthew) Martin and Renee (Jonathan) Gordon; one sister, Millicent "Millie" (Richard) Rumph and five grandchildren, Nichole Noelani Owen, Norman Herbertz, Ellis Martin, Cody Gordon and Jake Martin.
Mimi was preceded in death by her mother and also a brother David Taylor.
Visitation for Mimi will be Wednesday, July 8th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood, IN 46143. Rev. Rick Wilson, Mimi''s nephew, will conduct services at the funeral home on Thursday July 9th at 10:00am. Burial will follow services at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
