Nancy J Avery 85 of Indianapolis passed away Friday February 27, 2026. Born June 4, 1940 to Homer Chisham and Doris (Sprinkle) Wingler.

Nancy attended Decatur Central High School. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading and watching game shows. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her granddaughters will carry on the tradition of grandmas famed chicken & dumplings as they have made her recipe together at holidays.

Nancy leaves behind a son, Mike (Michelle) Spears and daughter Debbie Spears to cherish their memories of a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Avery and son Brian Spears. Also her parents and siblings, Cliff and Luther Sprinkle, Russell Chisham, Linda Bunge preceded her in death. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, Rick (Lori) Spears, Ryan Spears, Angie (Nick) White, Tricia (Johnny) Correll, Sarah Robbins and Brian Spears Jr.  Nancy had 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
