Nancy Elizabeth Ruoff, 78, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, after a courageous 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born on January 1, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to Charles Lavern Caton, a WWII veteran, and Sarah Jane Caton, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Ohio with her brothers Chuck Caton (surviving) and Tom Caton (deceased).
Nancy was married to Bruce Ruoff, who passed away in 2016. She is survived by their four children: Josh Ruoff (Lauren), Ben Ruoff (Cassie), Alex Ruoff (Mary), and Caitlin McGuigan. She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, who brought tremendous joy and pride into her life.
Nancy began her career as an art teacher before dedicating herself to raising her family. In her later years she found a meaningful and enjoyable second career as a Longaberger Basket consultant, where she blended creativity, craftsmanship, and community. She also devoted many summers to Tick Valley Camp, sharing her love of arts and crafts with campers of all ages. Throughout her life, Nancy brought enthusiasm, humor, and warmth into everything she touched. She also had a fondness for animals and cared for many over the years, a small reflection of her gentle and nurturing spirit.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
