Obituary

Nancy Kay (Miller ) Sprong was born on October 7th, 1944 to William and Wilma Miller(deceased) in Logansport Indiana.

As a child she loved spending time on her grandparents farm, reading and writing letters. Nancy graduated from Indiana State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree Then, in 1972 she graduated from Indiana University with her Master of Science in Education.  Nancy used her degrees and held teaching positions for several school districts, including Marion, Indiana and Cincinatti, Ohio.
On August 4th 1968  Nancy married Micheal Sprong from Marion, Indiana, after being introduced by Mike's pastor after church one evening.    They were married for 52 years and 8 months.  They were the love of each others lives and best friends.
Nancy and Mike enjoyed going to the movies on Saturday afternoons, eating at Dennys on Saturday mornings,  and were even Pacer season ticket holders for several years.  They a took many trips to  Cincinatti and to Chcago to see the Reds and Cubs play, although Nancy would tell you the Reds were her favorite!  Nancy also was a very talented pianist and had a beautiful singing voice and often sang and played the piano at many church services throughout the years as well as sang in the choir.  Including at Southland Community Church in Greenwood, IN, her home church for many years.
Over her lifetime Nancy  worked for several other companies including AT&T in Chicago , Illinois, and Cleveland Ohio until  her and Mike moved to Greenwood Indiana in 1992, where Nancy worked for the Clerk Treasure for the City of Greenwood, until she retired in 2007.
If you were to ask Nancy what her biggest joy in her life was she would tell you being married to her best friend and being a mother to Christina (Sprong ) Vaughn of Greenwood, Indiana, Todd M. Sprong of Lousiville,KY., and her son in law Steven Vaughn of Greenwood Indiana. She has a large Legacy she leaves behind. Eight grandchildren; Dylan (Ashley), Ian (Courtney), Aaliyah, Kayleen (Jermey), Madalyn (Travis ), Rayanna, Evan and Brayden and 10  great grandchildren Melody, Jeremy, Carson, Andrea,  Zayden, Maddy, Aaiden, Adilyn, Axton and AnaBella. Nancy also has a brother Stephen Miller, MD (Connie) of Fresno, CA and many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews.
Nancy had a contagious laugh and smile that you rarely saw her without. She loved babies and never passed up the opportunity to smile, wave and talk to each one she saw.  She lived her life through faith and honored God by her every day actions.
On April 17th 2021  Nancy was in the home that her and Mike built together 20 years ago, with her husband and family near her, when she left this world and went to be with Jesus.  While we mourn her death we also rejoice in her homecoming.
