Nathan Dean Raney, age 50, of Greenwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born November 26, 1961 in Martinsville, IN to Nathan S. and Carolyn Jane (Robinson) Raney.
Dean was a graduate of Center Grove High School, Class of 1981. He had worked for many years at Jonathon Byrd Cafeteria as an Inventory Specialist. Dean attended the Community Church of Greenwood and was also a member Southside Church of the Nazarene. He loved to read his Bible every night. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to watch and collect movies, and he also loved to attend antique tractor shows.
Dean is survived by his father, Nathan S. Raney and step mother, Peggye, of Greenbrier, TN; sister, Vickie V. Johnson of Greenwood; niece, Stephanie (Robert) Russell of New Palestine; great niece, Aubrey Russell; uncles, Robert (Brenda) Raney of Solsberry, IN, Don (Dorothy) Robinson of Indianapolis, Richard (Glenda) Robinson of Martinsville, Maurice Robinson of Martinsville, Paul(Lilly) Robinson of FL, Jon (Cathy) Robinson of Greenwood; aunts, Mary (Charles) Kirk of Martinsville, Martha Kelly of North Vernon, Mary Ennis of Martinsville, Ruth (Bob) Cole of Greenwood and Shirley Robinson. He was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn, grandparents, and an aunt.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite #202 Wilmette, IL 60091-1064.
