Nida Lee Peck Standeford, 91, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on September 14, 1934, to Charles and Ernestine Rike Peck, Nida was a woman who brought color and music to the lives of all who knew her.

Active church member and a proud "sister" in the Red Hat Society, Nida thrived on fellowship and community. She retired after 34 years of dedicated service at Bridgeport (Olin) Brass, but her true vocation was her service to others, often expressed through her baking and her gift for gathering people together. Her love of music was a constant thread throughout her life; Nida truly loved to sing, and her voice remained a gift she shared generously, even in the final stages of her battle with Alzheimer’s.

Nida’s greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Paul Standeford, and was also a widow at a young age following the death of her first husband, Nolan Bain. She was further preceded by her parents; her sisters, Margaret Sisk (Robert), Patricia Shields (William), and Helen McClanahan (John); her sons, Nathan Bain and James “Andy” Parker; her son-in-law, Richard “Ricky” Raney; and her grandson, Jesse Bain.

She is survived by her brother, Edward Peck (Carol); her daughters, Nola Parker Garrison (Larry) and Nyla Parker Raney; her stepchildren, Nancy Standeford, Carol Collins, and Lee Standeford (MaryAnne). Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren who lovingly knew her as “Gumpy”: Erica Howard, Devin Rairdon, Mackenzie Parker, Kirsty Savoie, Kelsey Wright (Matthew), Chelsea May (Josh), Saisha Meredith (Kaleb), Rob Warns (Amber), Janae Giesler (Graham), Kimberlee Standeford, and Krista Standeford; and twelve cherished great-grandchildren.

A gathering for friends and family will be held Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood, IN, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a funeral service at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
