Nina Lee Melton, age 95, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016. She was born April 3, 1920 in Moss, TN to Steve and Bessie (Teeple) Hestand. She was a homemaker who loved to read her Bible, do ceramics, garden, entertain and feed her family and friends. She was a member of University Heights Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 364.

She married Alvin Leo Melton on September 17, 1945 and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2006. Nina is survived by her sons, Charles Michael (Holly) Melton of Sunshine City, FL, Carlos Ray (Carole) Burgess of Cloverdale, IN and Alvin "Al" Steve Melton of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Eddie Burgess; daughter, Shirley Thomas and brothers, Edwin and Marcum Hestand.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to University Heights Christian Church General Fund.
