Norman G. "Butch" Whetstine, age 56, of Columbus, IN passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born September 27, 1953 in Franklin, IN to Bob and Phyllis (King) Whetstine. He graduated from Indian Creek High School, Class of 1971 and earned his A.S. Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Butch was an Owner/Operator in the trucking industry. He married Sandy Courtney on August 2, 1975 and she survives along with his parents; daughters, Megan Elisa (Michael) Bunch and Hanna Marie (Chad) Fields; granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madelyn; brothers, Richard (Pam) and Brad Whetstine; sister, LuAnn (Tim) Smith; brothers-in-law, Allen and Jeff(Tammy) Courtney;4 nephews, 4 nieces, 4 great nephews and 5 great nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Eugene, and one sister-in-law, Cindy Fryer. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 25, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society.
