Opal M. Cox, age 93, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born March 24, 1923 in Otwell, IN to Walter and Florence (Weisheit) Voelkel. She was employed at R.C.A. in Indianapolis for 34 years in records and tubes. She was a "Rosy the Riveter" type who worked tirelessly for her family and her company. She loved to work in her garden and cook for her family. She married Orville Cox and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Opal is survived by her sons, Paul R. (Betty) Cox of Bargersville, Daniel Cox, and Arthur D. Cox of Indianapolis; daughter, Leah Cox of Greenwood; brother, Glen (Barbara) Voelkel of Jasper; sisters, Mildred Cowan of Peru, Mary White of Terre Haute, and Sadie Sermersheim of Jasper; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Calvin, Omer, Charles, Radius and Lee Voelkel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
