Pastor Sherman Whitlow, Jr., age 84, of Connersville, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away October 18, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born March 21, 1932 in Louisville, KY to Sherman T. and Gracie (Ellogood) Whitlow. Sherman was a U. S. Army veteran and he was an Ironworker Layout man and pastored Missionary Bible Baptist Church for 44 years. He loved to read his Bible, attend Gospel sings and, in his earlier years, salmon fish and throw horseshoes. He will be missed by his family, church family and friends.

Sherman married the former Carolyn Green on June 28, 1958 in Corinth, MS and she survives him along with their son, Preacher John (Kim) Whitlow of Indianapolis; daughters, Sue (Pastor Tim) Fluty of Connersville, and Sherri Whitlow of Greenwood; brother, Rudy Whitlow of Murray, KY and Gerald (Shirley) Whitlow of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Carol Gatesy of Taylor, MI; grandchildren Amanda (Joey) Laughlin of Connersville, Josh (Kristin) Whitlow of Wanamaker and Jatonna (Josh) Perry of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Shaina, Jacob and Eli Laughlin and Bryce and Kailynne Perry; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don and Freddy Whitlow; sister, Betty Whitlow and grandson, Shane Fluty.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastor Tim Fluty officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
