Patricia Ann Downey, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana was called home to Heaven on August 2, 2020.
Born on November 6, 1938 Patty was the only child to Stanley Miller and Gertrude Seward, both of whom preceded her in rest.
Pat, as her family and friends call her, grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Manual High School, before going on to the School of Business . As a young woman, she met and married the love of her life, Rufus Lee Downey, and together they bought a home in which they raised three girls and four boys, and have resided in for nearly 40 years, while celebrating 53 years of marriage together. She also shared a passion for bowling with her husband, and they were in many different leagues together for a number of years.
Patty absolutely cherished her life! She was a kind and generous woman, who loved raising a big family, having huge holiday and family dinners, seeing her family walk in the door whenever they wanted, and welcoming many friends into her home. She always had walls full of family photos all through her home, so that she could always see and brag about the ones she loved most.
Pat truly adored her long career at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, as well as travelling to different places in and out of the country, with her family. She was an avid animal lover, always helping the less fortunate ones who needed it most. Patricia was also a very talented Cake Maker, and a wonderful Quilter, who thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent making them. By far one of Pat's favorite past times was going to watch short track and Figure 8 racing at the Indianapolis Speedrome, first as a child with her parents, then all throughout her married life, with her husband, children, and many grandchildren.
Patty will be sorely missed but warmly remembered by her husband, Lee Downey; daughters, Cathy Enochs (Wayne), Doris Cleaver (Patrick) & Melody Perry; sons, Allan James, Tony Downey (Susan), & Joe Downey; as well as her daughter in law Becky Downey, her 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, & 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as the many, many friends she made in her life.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in rest by her youngest son Robert Lee Downey, and granddaughter Jessica Downey.
