Hockersmith
December 13, 1940 – March 2, 2025
Mrs. Paula K. Hockersmith, 84, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, March 2, 2025. Born December 13, 1940, in Indianapolis, she was the beloved daughter of Paul Kermit and Zena Gail (Boring) Grant.
Paula attended Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis and was a member of the graduating Class of 1958. She enjoyed a successful career as an award-winning Avon representative and later retired from Simon Properties, where she served diligently in the administrative clerical department for several years.
A devoted member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, Paula's faith was central to her life. She had a passion for movies, shopping, crafting and painting. Her love for her home and garden was evident in the care she took of her beautiful flowers. Paula also cherished her dogs and cats. She was an avid television viewer, especially fond of Dallas and various soap operas. Above all, Paula treasured her family, particularly her grandchildren, and was known for her friendly nature, never meeting a stranger.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Diana (Kent) Bennett and Linda (Ken) Mushen; her cherished grandchildren, Courtney Hockersmith, Brandon (Jess) Bennett, and Matthew Bennett; and her adored great-grandchildren, Gracie Lafferty, Ryker Bennett, and Raegan Bennett. Paula is also survived by her brother, Stephen Grant, and her nieces and nephews: Kim Burkhead, Danny Grant, Matt Grant, Becky (Jim) Sickles, and Sara Grant.
In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Hockersmith, and an infant sister, Karen Sue Grant.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with Pastor John Kixmiller officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
