Paula Knowles, 75, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012. Paula was born on October 9, 1936 in Combs, KY to the late Elhanon and Cynthia (White) Fugate. She married James E. Herald in 1957 and they were together for 29 years. She then married Larry Lee Knowles in 1986.
Paula was a tremendously loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. She also loved her cats, the outdoors, and cooking.
Paula is survived by her loving husband Larry of 25 years; children: Betty Goodwin (William); Darrell Herald (Sherri); Joan Myers; Gary Piersall (Phyllis); Kathy Matthews (Ray); Amy Hargrave (Herman); Johnna Oakes (Tommy); Anthony Herald (Tamra); Patrick Herald; Alena Knowles; and Lacey Knowles; 35 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Deborah J. Welch; son James E. Herald, Jr.; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Marcus Dodrill officiating.
