Pauline Adele Hood, 91, of Bloomington, formally of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011. Adele was born on August 30, 1920 in Raymond, IL to the late Edward R. and Mary L. (Mason) Smith. She married her love Herschel Ray Hood in March 1939.
Adele was employed with Indiana University for 30 years as a Media Librarian, retiring in the early 1980s. She and Ray loved to camp and also resided in FL during the cold months. She was a member of the American Business Woman''s Association, loved to watch TV, write letters, and take care of the neighborhood stray cats and critters. Adele also collected cat items of all sorts. Adele was a tremendously loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Adele is survived by her loving children: Jerry Hood (Barbara), Larry Hood, Gary Hood (Janie), and Mike Hood (Tracy); sisters: Barbara Voyles and Gwen Justis (Richard); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years, Ray; and 5 siblings.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood, with the funeral service immediately following.
