Pearl L. Chicola-Steagall, age 89, of Coatesville, IN passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 21, 1923 in Maryland to Pearl and Ordella (Costello) Blackburn. She graduated from Speedway High School with the Class of 1940. Pearl worked for Pitman-Moore, which later became Dow Chemical. She retired in 1984. She married John F. Chicola on February 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1991. She later married Willard L. Steagall on June 12, 1993 and he survives. She was an avid reader, loved to do jigsaw puzzles and crochet. She was also a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Pearl is also survived by her son, Keith Chicola; daughters, Kay (Arthur) Kelso, Kathy Jackson, Karla (Charles) Gibson and Kristy (Joe) Childers; fourteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and dear friend, Pearl Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karen, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Alzheimer''s Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
