Mrs. Pearlie Mae Baker, Martinsville, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Pearlie was born October 21, 1945 in Manchester, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jimmy and Ellen (Lawson) Collins.
Pearlie attended school in Kentucky and moved to Indiana in 1963 with her husband. She enjoyed ceramics, bowling and in her younger years she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She deeply loved her family and together they made precious memories fishing and camping at Raccoon Lake. She and Jim enjoyed 26 years of traveling to St. George Island, Florida in the winters and they made many special friends there. She was a fabulous cook and baker and looked forward each spring to planting her flower and vegetable garden and caring for them throughout the summer. Pearlie was a hard worker and was deeply devoted to her husband and family.
Pearlie is survived by her loving husband, Jim Baker; her daughters, Maggie (Russ) Morgan and Marilyn (Michael) Dick; her grandchildren, Jamie (Zach) Wolma, Gabby (Justin) Carey and Maddie Dick (fiancé, Sean Weber); her great-grandchildren, Carter Clover, Emerson and Remington; her siblings, Helen Adler, James Collins, Elmer Collins, Cathy Collins and Larry Collins as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her sister, Faye Mielke.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 23, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with pastor Eden Pfotenhauer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service Monday.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution in Pearlie's memory, the family has suggested those be offered to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
