Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend, Perry J. "Dale" Denney, 78, departed this world for his heavenly home Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was born to the late Perry L. and Ruby L. Denney July 25, 1932, in Muncie, IN. In his early years he worked in Muncie as a sandblaster, managed Rental Service Co. and he was most proud of owning a Pepperidge Farm distributorship that covered nine counties. That distributorship led him to Denver, Co. in 1972, where he became a Pepperidge Farm cookie vendor. He moved his family back to Indiana in 1977 after the birth of their second grandchild who had special needs. Perry retired in 2000. Mr. Denney was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church, in Indianapolis. He was a proud member of the choir and had joyfully sung solos on a few occasions. Perry is survived by a loving special friend and companion, Carol Smith, and her son, Rev. Bryan Smith; sisters Betty LeMay, Circleville, OH., Marseil Lang and Marjorie Clanin, of Muncie, IN.; daughter, Deborah Haskell (Kenneth); sons, Robert C. Abel (Virginia), Memphis, TN.Jeffrey D. Denney (Misty) , and Michael S. Denney of Indianapolis, IN.; grandchildren, Jamie and Joshua Scamihorn, Muncie, Robert C. Abel, Jr.(Candace), Memphis, IN, Ariel and Ashton Denney, Indianapolis, IN.; and three great- grandchildren, Kaety, Jonathon, and Andrew Scamihorn. Mr. Denney was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Rabenia Sue Denney; granddaughter, Andrea Scamihorn; brother, Herbert Denney, Sr.; and sisters, Treva Denney and Vera Mckinley. A funeral services will be held, Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Edgewood United Methodist Church, 1820 E. Epler Ave., Indianapolis, IN, 46227. Reverend Ken Burcham, and Reverend Bryan Smith will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service, also in the church. In lieu of flowers you may send memorials to St. Jude Children''s Hospital, Riley Children''s Hospital, Horizon Hospice Care, Inc., or Edgewood United Methodist Church.
