Mr. Perry Purkhiser, Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Friday, December 25, 2020. He was 82. Perry was born December 20, 1938 in Bloomington, Indiana a son of the late George and Wilma Jean (Sparks) Purkhiser.

Perry was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator working out of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103. In his leisure time, Perry enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, camping, visiting the casino and playing golf. He also enjoyed 'old school' country music and watching the History channel and old westerns on television.

Perry is survived by his children, Steven (Trisha) Purkhiser, Terry Purkhiser, Dawn Hofer (fiancé, Junior Rogers) and Lynn (Tony) Moore; his grandchildren, Amy Wilson, Erica Bennett, Sharaya Purkhiser, Misty Purkhiser, T.J. Purkhiser, Danielle Timbs, Justin Purkhiser, Cory Purkhiser, Zoey Purkhiser, Josh Purkhiser, April Smith, Tiffany Thomas, Clay Moore and Jeremy Moore; several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Russ Wetzel,  Georgie (Diana) Wetzel and Charlie Wetzel; his sisters, Judy (Phil) Sims and Bonnie (Lewis) Jones; his sisters-in-law, Linda Purkhiser and Joyce Purkhiser.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Carolyn Jane (Smithey) Purkhiser; his son, Tony Purkhiser; his brothers, Dennis Purkhiser, Jerry Purkhiser and Bobby Wetzel and his sisters, Carolyn Stickels and Treva Wetzel.

Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.
