Phyllis "Pat"
A. (Derrett) Poe
Oct 1, 1934 — Jul 29, 2020
Indianapolis
Phyllis "Pat" A Poe, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away July 29, 2020. She was born October 1, 1934 in Beech Grove to Lena Margaret (McClain) and William Frank Derrett. Pat was a graduate from Tech High School. She was lifelong resident of Indianapolis.
Pat lived a simple content life, but her love and dedication to her family was remarkable. She was homemaker for many years, and later worked for Lantern Estates, Target, and many years at Bates Arts supply, where her customers adored her. She later retired from Bates when she was 74 years old. Pat also had her own business for over 20 years selling Mary Kay where she enjoyed and demonstrated her passion to work with people.
Pat was a member of Center United Methodist Church for many years. She cherished her church family, friends and neighbors. Pat was a regular volunteer with Centered Around Christ, helping with the monthly clothing giveaway and bringing her crowd-favorite banana pudding to the monthly hot meal for the poor and homeless. Her quiet, unassuming smile touched many and was testimony to her loving manner toward all.
Pat was preceded in death by her second husband, Ronald G Poe; son, Mark A Earle; and first husband, Glenn Earle.
Survivors include her daughter Glenda (Andy) Hoffman, of Camby; and sister Donna Bryant. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Krysta (Jordan) Graham, Bradley (Amber) Willis, Joshua (Haley) Hoffman, Evan Earle, Conner Earle, and Abby Earle. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 12 noon at Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road, Indianapolis. Rev Dan Rasmussen will officiate. Pat's final resting place will be Forest Lawn, 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood.
The family requests that those who wish to remember Pat with a special memorial donate to Centered Around Christ, Inc., 8148 E Landersdale Road, Camby, In 46113, or
