Phyllis L. Flint, 88.5, passed peacefully at the home of her daughter Saturday, July 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Emory L. Flint who passed away in 2015. They were married for 55 years. Phyllis was born in Niagara Falls, New York on December 13, 1935 to the late Ramon and Eunice Martin.
Phyllis graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1953. She relocated to Indianapolis IN in 1959 where she met her husband and was married on April 13, 1960. Phyllis worked many different jobs however she retired in 1989 from Stewart-Warner after 19 years of service. She was a machinist who manufactured manifolds.
Mom enjoyed bird watching, gambling, flea markets, reading, traveling, dancing, cooking and most of all she loved her family, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. She will be forever remembered for her crooked finger, quick wit, smoking for 71 years and the number 13. Mom was born on the 13th, married on the 13th and passed on the 13th.
She is survived by her 6 children, Michele (Jerry) Bay, Rebecca Doyle, Billy (Tess) Flint, Barbara (Dean Griffin) Faulkner, Pauline (Darryl) McMurray and David (James Houdek) Flint; her 11 grandchildren, Aimee Grantham, Scott Bay, Whitney McCullough, Justin Holland, Thea Bautista, Gio Dekire, Pocholo Jubas, Warren Dekire, Erica Faulkner, Spencer McMurray, Lance McMurray; her 13 great-grandchildren, Austin Grantham, Tristen Grantham, Jaxen Grantham, Kylee Bay, Brayden Bay, Kirra Bay, Maleea McCullough, Callista McCullough, Ellaina McCullough, Alexander Holland, Haleigh Holland, Kaydence Faulkner and Emma Frazier and her four great-great-grandchildren, Nixon, Asher, Delilah and Harper Grantham; her sister, April Martin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Forest lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank her special guardian angels, Linda Duke, Kevin Taylor, Tammy Rogers and Chris Weber who were her neighbors and watched over her and daddy for years. We would also like to thank the staff at Paradigm Health, especially Marlissa, Amber and Michelle.
At mom's request, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Riley Cancer Center, American Heart Association, The Diabetes Foundation or the Autism Society.
If you are attending the showing, please wear Indianapolis Colts or Indiana Pacers gear. Mom also requests that you don't wear all black to the funeral.
