Phyllis L. McAfee, 84, of Decatur, IL, formerly from the Indianapolis area, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. She was born in Bedford, IN to the late Delone and Ruth Menaugh. She worked as an executive secretary for Fafnir Bearings for many years. The job she found most fulfilling was tutoring young children and helping them learn to read. Phyllis greatly cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert McAfee and one brother, Louis Menaugh. Survivors include one son, Mark McAfee (Nancy); two daughters; Jan Rodery (Vince); and Cathy Williams; two sisters, Mary Kinder and Judy Blackwell (Phil); five grandchildren, Megan, Christopher, Corey, Jenna and Chase; and one great-grandchild, Alex. A service to celebrate Phyllis' life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, IN, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
