Obituary

A full time resident of Bonita Springs, Florida, since 2000. Former resident of Indianapolis, Greenwood, and Franklin, Indiana. Born December, 1941, to parents Bertis D. Rollman and Ruth E. (Ford) McHugh in Bedford, Indiana, a stepfather, George E. McHugh and one sibling, Shirley A. (Rollman) Greig who all preceded her in death. Raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from George Washington High School, class of 1959. Mother of four living children: James A. Writt, II, Franklin, Indiana; Brian E. Writt, Cooksville, Maryland; Kelly (Writt) Cooper, Mooresville, Indiana; and Stacey L. Writt, Bloomington, Indiana Also survived by ten grandchildren - Whitney, Brady, Haley, McKenzie, Brandon, Megan, Madalyn, Morgan, Andrew, and Alex. Phyllis was a former member of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church and involved with elementary school and active in Sunday school. She served as a president of the Altar Guild. When the family moved to the Franklin area, she was an active member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was an Indiana Licensed Real Estate agent since 1968 and worked several years in the family construction business. Phyllis was very involved in the family''s participation in the Indiana and county 4-H program of which her children participated and exhibited livestock as well as other exhibits. She was a Johnson County 4-H leader of the Golden Chain co-ed club for several years. Actively involved in politics, and sharing campaign committee responsibilities for National, State, Congressional, and local candidates, Phyllis was the first president of the Bargersville Area Women Republican Club as well as a member of the Nation Republican Women. For much of the 1980''s, she served under Judge Robert E. Smith in Johnson Superior Court 1. Upon leaving, she was a secretary and South Regional Administrative Assistant for Carpenter Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Indianapolis, Indiana. After serving as co-chairman for the re-election of Johnson County Sheriff J. D. Richards, she became his Administrative Assistant before moving to Florida. Phyllis was a member and past officer of the Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority, Theta Rho Chapter for several years as well as a member of the Board of Realtors and Indianapolis Area Builders Association, women''s auxiliary. As a charter member of the Greenwood Area Chapter of the American Business Women, she held office and traveled to many national conventions as a delegate. For several years, Phyllis enjoyed her love of dancing and held membership in the Rawhide Dance Club and Indy Dancers, both in Indianapolis. In Lee County, Florida, Phyllis was employed by the First American Title Insurance Company until leaving to work for Fidelity National Title Insurance in Bonita Springs until her illness. In Bonita Springs, she held membership in Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and Singles of Bonita. Thursday, January11, 2007, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
