Mr. Raymond Franklin Brewer, Avon, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, December 24, 2021 at Indiana University Health West Hospital in Avon. He was 86. Raymond was born March 1, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky, a son of the late Francis Marion and Martha Ethel (Pulliam) Brewer.

Raymond was a graduate of DuPont High School in Louisville and soon thereafter was inducted into the United States Navy. He was a proud veteran and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. For most of his adult life, Raymond was an underwriter with Farm Bureau Insurance Company, retiring in 1990. He was a long-time member of Harmony Baptist Church of Avon, where he was active in several areas of ministry and had also been involved in Bible studies. He was also a member of Bridgeport Lodge No. 162, F&AM of Indianapolis.

Raymond loved to be outdoors as was evident in his love of hunting, fishing and running. He had also been a 3 ^rd and 4 ^th grade football coach as well as coaching 6 ^th graders. He also played the guitar and mandolin in his spare time and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed reading and playing golf. Raymond also enjoyed kicking back and watching old black and white war movies on television.

Raymond was a good man and a wonderful husband and father.

Raymond is survived by his sons Mark (Debra Vibbert) Brewer and Dale (Elizabeth) Brewer; his grandchildren, Brandi Brewer, Marc (Teddie) Brewer, Zachrey Wylie and Cody Brewer; five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in passing by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Brewer, who passed in 2010 and his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Jonathan Lilly officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
